Brought to you from the ex-lurker

10:09 College Station, TX, USA

Hey team-

First blog. This is monumental. However, I confess...I have been a lurker. My lurking time is now over.

After waking up at 4:45 on Monday morning, I arrived in cstat just in time for work. The museum looked the same as it did before I left. While I half expected to see a new climbing wall or possibly some bones from the forefathers...no such luck. Dress up clothes and tambourines lined the disney song infested museum displays.

Today, a five year old pre-schooler told me she was gay. God bless public schools.

Now back to pre-college station days. Fredericksburg, Texas. Located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. That's right. THE heart. I saw a few things that made me wish you guys were with me in fbg.

1) The sign placed above the a thrift store that read: "If you steal from St. Vincent's, you steal from Jesus." ...works for me, I guess.

2) The blinking yellow lights down main street beginning at 10:30. ...yet the speed limit is still 30. ouch.

3) Waiting until 7:47 for the 7:30 showing of Narnia just so everyone could be seated for the last showing of the night. ...thank you small town businesses.

4) Running into the entire FHS class of 2006 at lunch every single day. "Hey! How are you? How were finals? You here for the whole summer?"...yeah, miss those days. (shout out to a fran. I know you did the same thing. don't even try to pretend that you didn't.)

5) Field tripping down main street along with my sister's second grade class for a "Historical Day In Our Town."...really informative.

Alright, I'll be in c stat until the end of June. ENGL 374 here we come.

I like the numbering thing.

1) its SO good to have you!

2) I did do the same thing, except I'm wary of asking about finals because a lot of the wonderful class of 06 has stopped attending. So I merely say, "What do you do with your life nowadays?" The kids seem to be into it.

3) I LOLed about the gay child. God bless public schools.

4) You work at a museum? Where have I been?

I still think that "children's" museum is a bad name. They don't call art museums "people who want to look at art" museums.

It's called "Children's Museum" because it is owned by children. Every child that enters "owns" the museum.

We're a non-profit and that is our policy.

...and I didn't name it.
